TRAINING UNDER “HABITATS FREE OF INVASIVE ALIEN SPECIES” LIFE PROJECT

On 28.11.2018 near the town of Plovdiv was held an expert training under the project LIFE16 NATBG000856 Habitats free of Invasive Alien Plant Species.
During the training was presented information regarding 2 important priority habitats targeted by LIFE16 NATBG000856 project:
• Habitat 9560* Endemic forests with Juniperus spp.;
• Habitat 9180* Tilio-Acerion forests of slopes, screes and ravines.
Information regarding the invasive alien species (IAS), the threats related to their spreading as well as concrete methods for limiting and elimination of IAS was also presented during the training by the lecturers.
As part of project LIFEFORHAB networking activities SWSFE experts attended the training where they had the chance to exchange information and experience related to IAS, protection and restoration of priority forest habitats within Natura 2000 network in Bulgaria.
