More than 3300 containerized pine and oak seedlings were planted by volunteers near Lokorsko village during a reforestation campaign aimed at the restoration of forests damaged by bark beetles.
Over 450 volunteers participated in the campaign organized with the support of State forestry unit Sofia and SWSFE. Completed works included clearing of the area to be reforested, soil preparation, planting and watering the seedlings.
Afforested seedlings are produced at Lokorsko nursery with the automated production line for containerized seedlings delivered by SWSFE with the support of EC LIFE 2016 Programme. Besides the seedlings, SWSFE ensured expert and logistic support for the campaign by providing afforestation tools, materials and water tanks.
The campaign was organized in partnership with Gorata.bg as part of the national initiative “Lets clean Bulgaria together!”.
